Fluorometholone ointment is a steroid eye medicine used to treat pink eye for eye allergy or other inflammation on the eye.
When you are using fluorometholone ointment for eye diseases wait at least 5 to 10 minutes before applying other medications.
If your ophthalmologist has prescribed eye drops along with the ointment you should apply the eye drops before the ointments to allow the drops to enter the eye.
Use the ointment regularly in order to get the most benefit from it. You have to use the eye ointment at the same time each day so that you don’t forget your dose.
The length and dosage of treatment with fluorometholone ointment are based on your medical condition and response to treatment.
Do not use this medication more often or for longer than prescribed because doing so may increase your risk of side effects.
Continue to use this medication for the full time prescribed. Do not stop using this medication without consulting your doctor. Some conditions may become worse when the drug is suddenly stopped.
You should definitely not use this product if it becomes contaminated like if it changes its color or the expiry date is gone. Use of contaminated fluorometholone ointment can cause infection, serious damage to the eye, and loss of vision.
Contact your doctor for more information on it. The medicine needs to be changed, if your condition does not improve after 2 days or if it gets worse.
