Fluorometholone eye drops are steroid eye drops used for treating eye allergy or inflammation.
Before using fluorometholone eye drops care must be taken if you’re wearing contact lenses.
Ask your doctor about using contact lenses when you’re on this medication.
Take care when you are wearing contact lenses as the preservative in this fluoromethalone may be absorbed by your contact lenses.
If your doctor does approve the wearing of contact lenses during treatment with this medication, remove the lenses before application of fluoromethalone. Wait at least 15 minutes after each dose of the eye drop before wearing the lenses again.
Care should also be taken when you are applying these eye drops. Avoid contamination of the solution and for that you need to wash your hands first.
Shake the bottle well before using. To avoid contamination, do not touch the tip of the dropper or let it touch your eye or any other surface.
Tilt your head upwards and backwards and look up, pull down the lower eyelid to make a pouch this is the correct position for application of fluorometholone eye drops. Hold the dropper directly over your eye and place 1 drop into the pouch.
Look downward and gently close your eyes for 1 to 2 minutes. Place one finger at the corner of your eye and apply gentle pressure. This will prevent the fluorometholone eye drops from draining out.
Don’t blink and or rub your eye. Apply as often as directed by your doctor. Do not rinse the dropper. Replace the dropper cap after each use.
Several brands are available for buying these drops. These days buying these drops has become rather easy with availability of online shopping.
